چکیده
Abstract This paper presents a novel architecture for model predictive control (MPC)-based indoor climate of multi-zone buildings to provide energy efficiency. Unlike prior works, we do not assume the availability high-resolution building model, which is challenging obtain. Instead, uses low-resolution that divided into small number “meta-zones” can be easily identified using existing data-driven modeling techniques. The proposed hierarchical. At higher level, an MPC controller make decisions air handling unit (AHU) and meta-zones. Since meta-zones are fictitious, lower level converts high-level commands individual zones by solving projection problem strikes trade-off between two potentially conflicting goals: AHU-level made respected while maintained within comfort bounds. performance assessed via simulations in high-fidelity simulation testbed compared rule-based used practice. Simulations multiple weather conditions show effectiveness terms savings, control, computational tractability.

Model based predictive control of HVAC systems
The problem of controlling a heating ventilating and air conditioning system in a single zone of a building is addressed. Its formulation is done in order to maintain acceptable thermal comfort for the occupants and to spend the least possible energy to achieve that. In most operating conditions these are conflicting goals, which require some sort of optimisation method to find appropriate solu...
متن کاملModel-based Hierarchical Optimal Control Design for Hvac Systems
A hierarchical control architecture for balancing comfort and energy consumption in buildings is presented. The control design is based on a simplified, yet accurate model of the temperature within each room of the building. The model is validated against real measurements. The control architecture comprises a first level that regulates low level quantities such as air flow, and a second level ...

This paper addresses the problem of controlling Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems with the purpose of maintaining a desired thermal comfort level, whilst minimizing the electrical energy required. Using a pilot installation, in the University of Algarve, Portugal, a Model Based Predictive Control (MBPC) strategy is used to control the HVAC equipment. The thermal comfort is...
متن کاملHybrid model predictive control of a nonlinear three-tank system based on the proposed compact form of piecewise affine model
In this paper, a predictive control based on the proposed hybrid model is designed to control the fluid height in a three-tank system with nonlinear dynamics whose operating mode depends on the instantaneous amount of system states. The use of nonlinear hybrid model in predictive control leads to a problem of mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) which is very complex and time consuming t...

This paper proposes a novel structure of model predictive control algorithm for piecewise affine systems as a particular class of hybrid systems. Due to the time consuming and computational complexity of online optimization problem in MPC algorithm, the explicit form of MPC which is called Explicit MPC (EMPC) is applied in order to control of buck converter. Since the EMPC solves the optimizati...
